Google Business Profile Views but No Calls: Why Your Profile Reads Closed

By Nerissa Brumley · September 8, 2026

Banner reading Your Google Profile Hasn't Posted Since Spring, Google Thinks You're Closed, over a photo of the Chiro Connect team holding a phone.

Somebody in your town just searched “chiropractor near me.”

Your profile came up. Good.

They tap it. Last post: March.

They tap the one below you.

So let me ask you straight. When did you last post on your Google profile?

Not your website. Not Facebook. The profile with your hours and your phone number on it. The one that shows up before anything you’ve ever paid for.

Most docs can’t answer that. A lot of them figure it’s set up, so it’s handled.

It’s not neglect. Nobody ever told you the profile was a living thing.

Your Google profile isn’t a listing. It’s the sign in your front window. And a sign nobody’s touched since spring reads as closed.

Why do patients check your Google profile before they call?

Because it’s the fastest way to find out whether your office is actually open and running right now.

A patient looks at your profile before they ever call. So does the AI when somebody asks it who to see. Both are asking the same thing: is this office alive right now. Six months of silence looks exactly like a closed door, and there’s no page two of an AI answer.

Try this: Open your profile right now and find the date of your last post. If you have to scroll to find it, that’s your answer.

Why does your last post date matter more than your ranking?

Because activity is the one signal that tells a patient somebody’s home this week.

Google reads five things on your profile. Activity, completeness, reviews, photos, consistency. Most docs have the phone number, a handful of reviews, and a photo of the sign from 2019. What’s missing is the one signal that says somebody’s home this week. A post. (Here’s the full breakdown of what a profile is telling Google and the AI about you.)

Chase your last post date, not your rankings.

Try this: Post one thing this week. What you saw in the office, a stretch for the desk crowd, the reason you’re open Saturday.

Why does a chiropractic Google profile get views but no calls?

Because people found you, looked at the window, and decided the office looked closed.

Your profile already tells you how many people looked and how many people called. Almost every doc reads the first number and feels good about it. Thousands of views and a handful of calls means people found you, looked, and kept scrolling. That’s not a search problem. That’s a window that looked closed.

Try this: In your profile, pull 90 days of views and set them next to 90 days of calls. Write both numbers down. If the second one bothers you, it’s fixable, and the fix is the post you haven’t written yet.

What This Means for You

  • A patient and the AI both check your profile before anyone calls, and both are asking if you're open
  • Six months of silence looks the same as a locked door
  • Your last post date is the number to chase, not your ranking
  • Thousands of views and a handful of calls is a fix, not a mystery

Pro Tip: Write it once and use it twice. The stretch you’re sending patients this week, the reason you’re open Saturday, the thing you noticed on the table Tuesday, all of it belongs on your profile too. Practices that already have something real going out to their list every week never sit there trying to think up a profile post. It’s already written.

Inside CC with Nerissa: I Skipped Two Newsletters, Finished Most of The Sopranos, and Still Had a Great Month

Greg at his desk answering messages with the family cat stretched out beside him.
Greg answering messages. Skinwalker Texas Ranger answering to no one. He's on the clock. So is the cat. 😼

Carmel Bach Festival, ten years ago, shot from my seat. No clue what was coming. Great seat though. 🎼

I skipped the newsletter last week. That makes twice this month, once in the middle of a launch and once because I let a down week be a down week. I don’t skip. Ask anybody who’s been getting this email for a while. So that one stung a little.

But sometimes a down week is what it is, and I’ve stopped pretending otherwise. 🤷‍♀️

Here’s what mine looked like. Me on the couch with a Diet Pepsi and a twenty pound cat across my legs, working through the last stretch of The Sopranos with Greg. We’re near the end. I was way too young to appreciate that show when it came out, and I definitely couldn’t afford HBO. If you’re old enough to remember HBO being scrambled, you’re my people. 📺 At 44, though, I’m finally watching it the way it deserves, and I’m killing it.

Somewhere in there a memory popped up on my phone. Ten years ago, me in the audience at the Carmel Bach Festival in California. I’d gone with a world renowned spiritual leader for a weekend of hiking, learning, and growing. It was a time to remember. 🎻

I looked at that woman in the seat for a while. She had no clue what was coming. Not any of it. I miss her a little. But I know what I know now, and she didn’t.

And what I know now is that a down week in this house still looks like work. Greg spent it building performance reporting so docs can see their numbers in real time instead of once a month. Before that we’d been building a custom operating system for our own team, which took precedence over the things that actually make money. It shouldn’t have. We did it anyway.

Nobody gets a break from the cats either. All three are over twenty pounds and they leech onto us nonstop. 🐈

Here’s the thing though. So much is happening right now and it’s terribly exciting.

I got news this week that vindicated my biggest work upset ever. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

Today’s a big meeting for a partnership I’d like to land.

And I’ve already got a new member this week.

So no, I’m not behind. A day late and a dollar short is just how it feels sometimes when you’re building something real. That’s the price of admission. 🎟

Docs, that’s the part for you. If you skip a week, can’t make it, whatever the case may be, show up the next one. Being a day late or a week late matters a whole lot less than it happening at all. Shit happens. We’re all real people. Sometimes a break is needed.

Six episodes left. 🍝

What does a Chiro Connect newsletter actually include?

Every newsletter ends with a Week of Wellness, a simple daily calendar that gives patients something to check and use all week, and a reason to open the next email. Here’s the one that went out with this issue.

Chiro Connect September 2026 patient wellness calendar. Back tight after the first full desk week? Stand up and move every 45 minutes. A little support goes a long way. Did You Know? Sitting may load your low back like standing does. Weekend errands are a good excuse to move. Knees to chest before you leave the bed. Lumbar: the low back region that carries you daily.

FAQ

Why does my Google Business Profile get views but no calls?

Because the profile looks inactive to the people who found it. Views mean they found you. Calls mean they believed the office was open and worth calling. When the distance between the two is wide, the profile usually has no recent posts, thin photos, and unanswered reviews. They looked at the window and kept scrolling.

What should a chiropractor post on a Google Business Profile?

Something real and specific from the week. What you saw in the office, a stretch for the desk crowd, why you’re open Saturday, a holiday schedule change. It doesn’t need to be polished. It needs to be recent.

Where do I find views and calls on my Google Business Profile?

Both live in the performance section of your profile. Pull 90 days of views and set them next to 90 days of calls. Those two numbers together tell you more about your front window than any ranking report will.

Does an old Google Business Profile post make a clinic look closed?

To a patient scanning fast, and to an AI building an answer, yes. Neither one can tell the difference between a practice that’s busy and a practice that’s gone. Recent activity is what separates them.
